Plot Summary
Casimiro Estevez is a good and innocent man. He believes in his village, Marco Antonio Muñoz, despite all of the signs of it’s dying. He believes in the church, which despite all his devotion, both material and spiritual, fails to recognize him. He believes in his community, which despite his many attempts to overcome his past trespasses, refuses to recognize him, or his family. He continues to believe in the concept of a nuclear family, with his wife and children safely and securely entrenched on the family farm, working the coffee. He believes in his farm, and in the coffee crop, despite nearly a decade of ruinous pricing and the resulting inability of the farm to support itself, or his family. He believe in the local system, which despite the belief of the people, allowed his father to die of a snakebite because they could not afford to pay for medical care.
